MAU

Definition

What is MAU?

Monthly active users (MAU) is a metric used to measure the number of unique users that have interacted with an online application within a given month.

Why MAU is an important metric?

MAU is essential in determining the success and engagement levels of a product or service. When looking at MAU numbers, one can determine the rate of customer adoption and engagement within their product, and identify opportunities for growth or retention improvements. When combined with separate metrics such as Average Session Length or DAU/MAU ratio, MAUs can provide even more detailed data about user behavior within a particular product or service.
